Meet the Musician Mondays - Steven Tatum

Happy Monday! We're here with another Meet-The-Musician-Monday post, and a reminder for our next concert, which is coming up in less than a week! Join us at Congregation Beth Israel this Sunday at 3PM for a wonderful afternoon of beautiful serenades & Beethoven Symphony No. 2! Tickets are available now on our website www.connecticutsymphony.org !

Meet Steven! He grew up in a musical family in the woods, hills, and fields of northeast Vermont. His elementary school band director Mr. Prue was brave enough to let him pick up a bassoon in 5th grade, and he hasn't put it down since. In high school and college, he studied bassoon with Rachael Elliott (known for her playing with Clogs, Tuple, Rushes, and Heliand Consort). Music was a steady hobby as Steven pursued a decade-long career as a high school English teacher. He joined the CVSO after the pandemic and was delighted to make music with others again. He lives in Hartford with his partner and chosen family, with whom he gets up to a lot of gardening, cooking, gathering, and practicing creating a more liberated world.
