”A Family Holiday Concert”

This marks Kevin Kinsall’s eleventh season with the Connecticut Valley Symphony Orchestra; seven years as co-principal (under the direction of Joseph Hodge) and the last four years as principal (under the direction of Paul McShee). This year also marks his thirtyfifth year as a public school music teacher.   

In addition to teaching, Mr. Kinsall free-lances in the classical, jazz, and commercial genres on both trumpet and guitar, and he was a member of the trumpet section on jazz trumpet sensation Roger Ingram’s inaugural live recording, “Live at the College Hideaway.” Mr. Kinsall is a member of the very successful Tim Fioravanti Jazz Orchestra. Other appearances include the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra, Manchester Symphony Orchestra, West Hartford Symphony Orchestra, Classic Brass-Brass Band, the Jim Stewart Big Band, and the Bob Hughes Big Band.

Mr. Kinsall attended the University of Connecticut where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and a Master Degree in Music Education. 

He studied trumpet with:

  • Louis Hanzlik of the University of Connecticut, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and the American Brass Quintet. 

  • Daniel Patrylak of the University of Connecticut

  • Jeff Curnow of the Philadelphia Orchestra

  • William Babcock of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra

  • Jose Cordero and Carroll Potts of the United States Coast Guard Band

Mr. Kinsall has performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra under the direction of John Williams, Philadelphia Pops Orchestra under the direction of Peter Nero, and has performed for dignitaries such as President H.W. Bush and French President François Mitterand.
